Croisillon Armchair

Description

Croisillon Armchair

The Croisillon armchair, designed in 1945 by Jean Royère, is part of a large family of related pieces.  The crossed metal back became an intrinsic part of his formal vocabulary, expressed across multiple surfaces and on a broad range of furniture and lighting pieces, becoming a signature of
Royère.

From the front and side, a clean, sharp silhouette is apparent, while the back displays an intricate lattice of interlaced steel tubular metal, whereby the piece takes its name. Each tube is individually bent to fit into the other, so that each one subtly brush against the other, creating a pleasing pattern, that is at once structural and decorative. The recognisable motif and elegant lines of the armchair are enlivened by the ball-capped legs. Available in an indoor or outdoor version, and with arms straight or waved.
