Description

The collection, Carnets d’archives vol. 1 – Jardins à la Française, offers a modern interpretation of the “Savonnerie” rug as drawn by Henri Gonse for La Manufacture Cogolin in 1935.

La Manufacture Cogolin has a storied history and rich archives that include collaborations with the most renowned artists and designers. Among them are the drawings of former France embassy attaché and art collector Henri Gonse. The present collection illustrates Gonse’s exquisite drawings as culled from the archives. The unique and redefined designs feature symmetrical floral motifs in lively colour combinations and a unique texture.

Carnets d’archives vol. 1 – Jardins à la Française features hand-knotted rugs made of wool, linen and silk with polished decorative motifs that resemble minimal and stylish embroidery. Seven rugs were selected from twenty drawings by Henri Gonse.
