Description

In the 1930s, a wave of modernity swept through La Manufacture Cogolin at the hands of textile entrepreneur Jean Lauer. Bringing his technical expertise to the company, he paved the way for groundbreaking collaborations with leading modernist artists. This era was marked by the momentum of the Union des Artistes Modernes, notably led by Robert Mallet-Stevens, which advocated a new alliance between craftsmanship and industry.

It was in this context of aesthetic renewal that the Manufacture stood out with bold creations, designed for exceptional interiors as well as iconic projects like the ocean liner Normandie, inaugurated in 1935. Onboard, passengers discovered original rugs signed by Cogolin, some created in collaboration with renowned decorative artists, such as the Engrenage model by Alavoine, now reissued within the Les Modernistes collection.

This collection pays tribute to this pivotal period at the dawn of the company. Reinterpreted from the archives, these rugs with geometric patterns stand out through their play of materials, textures, and solid color areas.
